KENNETH MAES

I'm a Belgian illustrator and graphic designer based in Zurich, Switzerland. My work is shaped by a broad mix of inspirations—from the natural world (especially the mountains and ocean) to magazines, movies, and the visual language of sport and lifestyle brands. I love looking back in time for visual references, blending retro influences with modern design to create work that feels both fresh and familiar.

For five years, I ran my own lifestyle brand with a small team of five. It was a hands-on, creative journey that taught me a lot—not only about design, but also about building a brand, collaborating closely, and navigating the world of small business.

I don't limit myself to one style. I enjoy experimenting with different aesthetics—drawing by hand on paper, working digitally, and often mixing both. That same curiosity flows into my daily life. I’m passionate about being outdoors—surfing, skating, trail running, biking, hiking—all of which influence my creative outlook. But I’m just as inspired by music, food, and culture. I love discovering new genres, dishes, or traditions.

I guess that’s the core of who I am: I don’t like to stick to one thing. I like to explore, stay curious, and keep learning—and that mindset flows directly into my creative work.
